Now this is a story all about how my life got flipped-turned upside down. . . Nah, I'm just kidding. I won't sing to you - just yet. It doesn't matter if you are an avid follower of men's fashion or not, you will definitely have heard of the term "preppy". Am I right? This is a word which originated in the north east of america when it came to university wear. It basically defined the american upper middle class. It was pretty much known at the ivy league style - a style that you would only see around prestigious colleges like Princeton, Harvard and Yale. Now apart from his aunt and uncle, I would have said that Will "the fresh prince" Smith had a whole other definition of the term "preppy". Not many people would be able to find a hat and match it with each unique outfit or even wear a rainbow of neon colours and still manage to look good. From hats that matched every outfit to shirts that looked more like, well, a Mondrian - The Fresh Prince knew how to pull it off. You have to admit though, some of his outfits are pretty styling? And you just have to love how standout ridiculous they actually are. The Fresh Prince of Bel Air has thought us a lot (Mix n' match, vests for the win, silk all the way, introducing 'mom' jeans before they were 'mom' jeans, push pastels, etc.) so maybe we should be more like these guys? I know I feel ridiculously free and fun when I throw on one of my fresh prince shirts. More Bel Air vibes, please.
