Everyone wants a seat alongside the runway at New York Fashion Week. Everyone (including me, sigh). Its probably one of the most sought after seats within the fashion world. And I mean, why wouldn't you want one? You get to be one of the first to see new collections in the flesh (fabric?) from Victoria Beckham, DKNY, Tommy Hilfiger and Tom Ford (to name a few of the big guns). All the fun and frolics swamped New York City for nine whole days and boy was there hits. Having said that, it wouldn't be fashion week without its fair share of misses, too.
What about then? Nothing short of boring, right? From Kanye Wests scorcher of a show, to models collapsing. From Tom Ford returning after six years, to collections been made instantly available to the public. From Ralph Lauren literally stopping traffic with a fashion show, to Marc Jacobs parading up and coming models around in multi coloured dreadlock wigs. NYFW was different to say the least. Waiting around for six months for a piece to land seems to be gone. Girls and guys now live on the internet. Many people refer to a designers past collection but for the first time ever it seems like people were speaking about New York Fashion in the future tense. What a way to kick off a month of fashion weeks.
